Ministry of Awqaf: We will verify the contractor’s request, and we pledge to implement the law

Based on the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Issa Al-Kandari
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs clarified that what is being circulated on social media about contractors blackmailing some mosque workers and obtaining money in exchange for renewing their residency is rejected and the ministry will not accept it towards workers in its mosques because it is a form of human trafficking.

The ministry confirmed in a clarification statement that the Ministry of Awqaf will verify the occurrence of such unacceptable acts and will refer the matter to the competent investigation authorities in preparation for taking legal measures and implementing the law against the contractor violating the rights of workers.

Through the explanatory statement, the Ministry of Awqaf called on all those affected by the act of any contractor who blackmailed workers through an illegal request to submit to the ministry and report all that they have been exposed to so that the concerned authorities may initiate their legal procedures towards such an illegal request.
